Fabric made from wine

What if you could combine your love of fashion and your love of wine? Soon, the Wine Harlots fantasy would be a reality. Micro‘be’ Fermented Fashion is the creation of Donna Franklin and Gary Cass who have made fabric from wine. The material is made from wine which when acetobacter is introduced creates cellulose on the surface of the wine. The fabric is similar to cotton. The cellulose is draped on a model, forms to fit and provides a seamless custom-fit garment. The issue with mainstream usability right now is when the fabric is dry it’s fragile, and easy torn – but when that problem is resolved, Wine Harlots will be queuing up to buy a glass – I mean a dress!
